If your back yard seems small even when you are mowing it, it is time to visit a park. Your kids will soak up some history, explore nature, and get some exercise without realizing it. From the little pocket parks in Arlington to that urban jewel, Rock Creek Park, there is something here for everyone. The next time they say they want to go to the mall, take them - to The Mall!

Farther out you can experience "nature red in tooth and claw" in Loudon County's Banshee Reeks Preserve and the many parks and preserves along the Patuxent River between Prince George's and Calvert Counties. Once you find a few favorites, visit them around the year and your little Muirs and Audubons can see first hand how the flora and fauna change during each season. Don't forget the sunscreen!
