Curiosity Zone…what is it? The Curiosity Zone is a science lab for kids ages 2-11. They offer classes, camps, special events and birthday parties which show children that science and math are fun through hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations.

The ‘Slime Time’ birthday party:
Let the kids get dirty and don’t worry about cleaning up the mess! Curiosity Zone offers a very fun and well organized 90 minute birthday party for kids who love science and getting their hands dirty. This particular OK-reviewed party was for a 6 year-old birthday boy and a total of 16 attendees ranging from three to ten years of age. The party started promptly and two friendly instructors led the kids to the private science lab and helped each child put on their white lab coats.

The kids then participated in 45 minutes of science experiment fun. They first made slimy bouncy balls and then flubber blubber as well as participated in other hands-on activities. Then the kids pass through the secret door (activated by birthday child’s fingerprint) into the private party room where they mixed their own drink concoctions and ate pizza and/or cake and ice cream. For the last activity, kids got to make funny shadows on the giant shadow wall! Each child departed with a balloon and a goody bag filled with the C-Zone ‘goody beaker’, slimy bouncy ball, flubber blubber and big smile on their face!

Additional facts:
  • All parties are 90 minutes that include 45 minutes of experiments and hands-on activities lead by two staffers, invitations, balloons, drinks, paper products, ‘goody beakers’ and a Curiosity Zone T-shirt for the birthday child.
  • Cost: $295 for up to 15 kids and $15 for each additional guest up to 20 max.
  • Be sure to reserve your date and time early – parties book quickly.
  • Curiosity Zone offers 4 other themed birthday parties for you to choose from. ‘Mix-It-Up Zoo’ for the little ones, ‘Blast and Bubbles’, ‘Spy Training’ and ‘Artsy Potions’.
  • Curiosity Zone is located right off the Dulles Greenway so participants coming from the Beltway will have to pay a toll fee of $3.40 to and from the Curiosity Zone.
  • We recommend purchasing your own party bags and putting the attendees names on them so that you can put the C-Zone ‘goody beakers’ (a mini science kit that includes a large beaker with test tube, pipette and experiment directions) along with the slimy bouncy ball and flubber blubber that each child makes and takes.
Bottom Line:
OK highly recommends having your child’s birthday party at Curiosity Zone. The cost for what you get is a great value and all the children and adults walked out of the party with big smiles!
