A Lump of Coal for Christmas, directed by award-winning Holly Twyford, brings to life the magic of the holiday season in its latest production.  This comedic and heartwarming adventure about a Lump of Coal who wants to aspire to be more than well, a lump of coal, takes place at Adventure Theatre-MTC from now until December 31st.

A Lump of Coal for Christmas at Adventure TheatrePlaywright Norman Allen presents the perfect present for you and yours in this uplifting tale.  Rufus (Kevin Grieco) is stuck at home with his lack luster uncle, Otis (Eric Messner) who could care less about all of the wonderful Christmas Eve traditions his nephew is stirring about, including receiving a brand new book every Christmas Eve.  Eventually, Uncle Otis gives his nephew a copy of the book Don Quixote, complete with no pictures but as Rufus reads the book he can’t help but bring the images in his head to life!  While Rufus gets lost in his new novel, Uncle Otis leaves the house to go take care of some things.

On the other side of town, a bigger than life Lump of Coal (Erin Weaver) has the entire audience captivated with her toe tapping moves and magnetic personality.  With spectacular stage presence and audience interaction, Lump has big dreams, although she is not quite sure what those are yet.

Her journey takes her into a theatre where she dreams of being an actor, to a restaurant where she hopes to become a fine chef and finally to an upscale art gallery where she desires to be as famous as Monet.   With each stop, the Lump of Coal has impeccable chemistry with the talented Judith Ingber who plays the role of Director, Cook and Gallery Owner, nailing her delivery every single time.  After being rejected several times, the resilient Lump runs into Uncle Otis, who offers her a warm place in his nephew’s stocking. Thinking this would be the perfect prank to pull on his hopeful nephew, the Lump and Rufus end up finding the best gift of all with each other.
