Rockin’ Jump

As the dog days of summer approach, I am always on the look out for new ways to keep my kids entertained.  This week we made our first visit to an indoor trampoline park and I can promise you it will not be our last!

Rockin' JumpRockin’ Jump in Gaithersburg is the most recent addition to the trampoline park scene in Montgomery County.  The 25,000 square foot indoor park located near the Airpark has been open since Spring 2015.  The space was clean, well organized and well staffed on the weekday that we visited.  We arrived right at the start of the daily open jump session at 11 a.m. and were able to get on the trampolines within 10 minutes.

All jumpers must fill out a waiver either in store or online in order to enter the facility (head straight to the iPads upon arrival if you have not done this ahead of time).  You can purchase jump sessions from 30 minutes through 120 minutes and will receive a color-coded wristband indicating the time of your departure.

You can schedule your jump time ahead by calling or reserving online.  This is a must for weekends as times do book up, but on a Tuesday morning we had no problem getting in as walk-ins.  All jumpers will need to purchase “Rockin’ Socks” for $2.  These socks can be reused on subsequent visits.

Rockin’ Jump has 5 different areas of trampoline fun.  The Rockin’ Arena is the largest area for jumping with trampolines of all sizes lining the floors and walls.  Rockin’ Splash is where you can jump off of a trampoline onto a giant airbag.  This was the site of many cannonball contests during our visit!  Rockin’ Dunk is a dedicated basketball area.

Three basketball hoops of varying heights are located here for jumpers to practice their slam-dunk skills.  The Rockin’ Dodge area is a dedicated dodge ball trampoline area.  A second Rockin’ Dodge area is available for more crowded jump times but was closed during our weekday morning visit.  When you need a break from jumping you can try out your American Gladiator skills on the X-Beam.

Rockin' JumpWe were able to enjoy every part of the park in our 90-minute session.  My kids could have stayed longer but my old legs were ready for a break after about 60 minutes of fun.  Pricing for open jump sessions are:

  • 30 minutes for $11
  • 60 minutes for $16
  • 90 minutes for $21
  • 120 minutes for $26

Frequent jumper cards are available as well.  You can purchase a card for 10 hours of jump time for $110, a 50-dollar savings.  You can also find deals for admission through their Facebook page (buy one hour, get one free on select dates).

In addition to Open Jump several age specific programs are available on a weekly basis.  Rockin’ Fridays from 9 to 11 p.m. is geared toward 11 to 17 year olds to come jump with friends complete with black lights, glow in the dark dodge ball and a DJ.  Rockin’ Tots is jump time geared towards little ones aged 2 through 6 held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 11a.m. and Saturdays from 8 to 11a.m.

Free secure lockers are provided for shoes and valuables in the lobby of Rockin’ Jump.  There are also vending machines, restrooms, massage chairs and flat screen TVs for non-jumpers’ entertainment.  No outside food or drink can be brought into the facility.

Rockin’ Jump is open Monday through Saturdays until 9 p.m. and Sundays until 8 p.m. making it accessible for after camp/work/school fun too.  Schedule a few hours to jump for you and your kids.  It is a great work out and family fun combined into one activity!
